Students in the underwater welding course conducting underwater burning training.
This is a student in the underwater burning phase of the underwater welding course here at National University Polytechnic Institute. In this section of the program, students are required to burn through a 6 inch pipe using an exothermic cutting torch. Students participate in this course as a part of the commercial diving program at NUPI. This course is the last course in the 8 month program. Students learn how to weld both topside and underwater. In addition to welding underwater, students also get the opportunity to burn through metal.
